Elwin Media has acquired the bi-annual print magazine Travel Play Live, a travel and lifestyle magazine written for and by women.
The acquisition includes the Travel Play Live print magazine, website and social media channels of TPL Publishing.
Elwin Media Owner and Publisher Elisa Elwin said she understands the power of the female traveller and adventurer.
“Since its creation in 2013, Travel Play Live has developed a strong following of Australian women,” she said.
Elwin said that the magazine focuses on adventure travel, sustainable tourism, luxury lodges, glamping, wellness retreats and expedition cruising, and aims to inspire readers with personal and meaningful stories about experiential travel experiences, as well as keeping them up to date with information about new tours, high-end accommodation offerings and experiences.
“With the new team of incredible professional, ethical women in place we are all excited to take the existing core brand to a broader demographic, including travelling and adventurous women of all ages and abilities,” Elwin continued.
Angela Saurine will join the team as Magazine Editor, Fiona Harper as Digital Editor, while Kara Geyer and Sue Perry from The Media Hut will look after content and partnerships.
Saurine has worked in the media industry for more than 20 years, starting her career in newspapers in the late 1990s before taking two years off to travel the world. She worked in various rounds at Sydney’s The Daily Telegraph before becoming national travel reporter for News Corp Australia (formerly News Ltd) in 2009. She held the role for four years before leaving to pursue a freelance career as a writer and editor.
Harper has spent 15 years as a travel and lifestyle media specialist with a particular interest in soft adventure travel and outdoor lifestyles. A keen sailor, hiker, cyclist and marathon runner, Harper developed the highly-regarded Travel Boating Lifestyle blog 10 years ago and was a finalist for Travel Photographer of the Year in the ASTW’s 2019 Awards for Excellence. She is a regular contributor to print and digital publications across the globe and has worked in digital, content and communications with some of Australia’s leading tourism operators.
The acquisition adds to Elwin Media’s existing print and digital family travel magazine, Out & About with Kids, of which 77 per cent of readers are mums who “make or heavily influence the family holiday and family activities decisions”.
